Previously, tempered glass windshields would shatter into a thousand pieces on impact. Today, windscreens are made of laminated glass: alternating layers of glass and polyvinyl butyral (PVB). This makes them much flexible and more impact-resistant, and in the event of an impact, the bond between the layers remains intact.

OUR ADVICES FOR WINDSCREEN
If your windscreen is damaged, cover the damaged area using a piece of transparent tape of the same size as the impact. This will avoid dust and water making the repair more difficult, or even impossible. Once you have done this, book an appointment as quickly as possible at your Fiat dealer. Damage that is repaired quickly can mean you avoid a costly replacement.
